There is something absolutely beautiful and liberating about the human body's nude form. Society may have clothed everyone for the sake of propriety, but the Naturists ask, what's wrong with the natural and naked human body? There's nothing shameful about the human body, so why then should people hide inside their clothes?
Some Naturist groups believe in the beauty of the human form. They encourage the idea of body acceptance and a respect for the human form, regardless of the person's age, color, size or shape. Since the human body is a gift of nature, why not flaunt it?
Most of the people around the world are used to the idea of seeing beauty pageants of bikini-clad women or skimpily clad men parading their gorgeous physiques back and forth across a stage. Naturist pageants have the same idea, but of course, with a slight twist: everyone's naked.
Whole families can participate in these naturist pageants. There are Junior Miss Pageants, Pre-teens Junior Miss Nudist Pageants, naturist pageants for the whole family and even children's pageants. They have talent shows, costume contests and body painting. It's a fun way for families to freely express themselves and to show off their natural beauty.
These types of naturist pageants have sparked much debate online on whether or not these pageants are morally correct. The issue of nakedness, and the fact that a lot of videos of these pageants are circulating on the internet and can be purchased by just anyone has a lot of concerned parties debating on the propriety of these naturist pageant videos.
Another issue that has sparked controversy asks a question regarding the more “well-endowed” women that can be seen on these videos—if alterations have been made on a person's body, can it still be considered as naturist? Although a lot of sectors in society would point out that participating in naturist activities is a person's prerogative, some sectors in society feel that such display of inhibitions may not be the best example for children and that the videos can be used for a different purpose than what the naturists themselves have intended.
